If your tweener daughter is a fan of the popular Judy Moody series, she has undoubtedly already begun campaigning for tickets to the rambunctious, list-loving Judy Moody's movie debut.

Starring Australian actress Jordana Beatty as the plucky young heroine, Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer picks up at the end of the school year with a morose Judy bidding her besties Amy (Taylar Hender) and Rocky (Garrett Ryan) adieu for summer break. Left with only Frank (Preston Bailey) and her younger brother Stink (Parris Mosteller) as companions, Judy also loses the company of her parents, who must fly to the side of her sick grandfather. In their absence, eccentric Aunt Opal (Heather Graham arrives and steps in to watch over Judy and Stink—and that's where the summer fun really heats up.

If you're planning on taking your little one to learn the rest of Judy's summer fate, make a real occasion of it and make dinner at home together first—a great way to not only spend a little more quality time together with young ones, but also to sidestep the insanely expensive, nutritionally questionable butter-soaked movie theatre popcorn.

For a meal you'll both love, pair a bowl of our Creamy Tomato Soup—which puts those fresh summer tomatoes to juicy good use—with a Southern Pimiento Cheese sandwich followed by a shared box of low-fat or fat-free candy at the movie snack counter for dessert.
