There is something inherently captivating about cupcakes, and the kid-sized treats are especially perfect for little hands and appetites. So next time your child has a birthday party, change up your sheet cake routine with one of the following creative cupcake ideas:

  • Decorating Divas and Dudes: Take personalization to the next level by incorporating cupcake decorating into the party activities. Set up a decoration station for each guest complete with un-iced cupcakes and baby jars filled with colorful buttercream icings, small candies, sprinkles. Once the cakes are decorated, place them on a platter complete with candles for your child’s big moment.

  • Flower Power: Garden themed cupcakes are perfect for spring and are some of the simplest cupcake designs to create. Go the insect route and make a cutie caterpillar from a series of cupcakes iced in green with Twizzler string legs, a butterfly donning cookie half wings or even an earthy soil cake powdered with Oreo crumbs and topped with gummy worms. We also love the idea of baking and serving cakes in unglazed terra-cotta pots (the kiddies will need forks for these) with sprouting faux flowers. Our final piece of advice is to venture into the wide world of cupcake flavors by trying our favorite (and oh-so yummy!) cupcake recipes below:
